Crucifix with trees and poem is nice, but other graphics aren´t.

I agree. Nobody in Libechov could tell me who had done that, but they still did not take down the skull and bones

As for the poem, I'm trying to understand the meaning, but I need a native speaker to translate me details. It's something about "not knocking [the door] with the knocking ones", obviously the biblical allegory, but I do not understand the whole phrase

"Lord, stay with us, because it´s getting later, lest we sink with the sinking ones, stay with us, because itś getting later."

I´m sad for every church treated like this... I hope they will find funds to repare it soon.

oh, I see, I didn't understand a thing. My Czech language understanding is still veeery poor :(

it's also sad people have no respect to the beauty and soul, I mean the graffities inside and outside. And I also have no idea what the skull and bones mean

You are getting better with every understood sentence. :-)

I don´t know it, either, but you can find stupid people everywhere, and to destroy something is still more easy than to create. :-(((

Ah, I´m blind! Found out the skull! *in the roof*, yes?
So. Don´t know. Maybe "memento mori"?

yes. that was the first thing I saw and I was a bit shocked. From the point of view of Orthodox people, as they consider the Cross as a simbol of resurrection and life, it might look abusive. But I do not know what Czech people might mean by that.

speaking about those columns with the Christ passions, do they mean the same as such things mean in Italy? I was told that they mark a walk in the memory of them, walking on their knees?

From: [identity profile] ioanna-ioannina.livejournal.com
Yes, it is "via dolorosa". It has 12 stops where you stop and pray. There is no need to walk on your knees, we are not so devoted as people in Italy, perhaps, but if you wish... :-)) You can find it in every (catholic) church and sometimes in the roads, especially where people used to pilgrimage.

WRT the skull, I haven´t seen it before, so I´m only guessing. There were plagues in the time of building this church, and some big wars, people could want to have the "don´t forget the death" sign somewhere. And it was period of reformation and subsequent recatolization in this country, too, when great part of our native nobility emigrated, other part got executed and the rest got germanized. Not exactly easy century here.

it was a surprise for me, too, because no Orthodox church, at least anywhere I was in former Soviet Unioun, has such road and such tradition either

as for skull, it seems somebody told they made it recently, but I'm not sure

Sorry, 14 stations... More info here at wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stations_of_the_Cross
If I´m not too much mistaken, it´s Catholic only tradition.
Catholic and Orthodox ways have to differ prety much; I´m almost completely ignorant wrt Orthodox ones... I´ve seen some churchs only (and liked them very much).

The skull is weird. :-))

It has to be a quote from Luke 24, 29.

Vulgata:
"29.et coegerunt illum dicentes mane nobiscum quoniam advesperascit et inclinata est iam dies et intravit cum illis"

King James version:
29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.

even more beautiful. that's one of the most touching epizodes in the New Testament, the walk of Chist with Luke and Cleopa after His resurrection, right?

Yep, and it has to be a Scout prayer, too... maybe Profesor will recognize it fully, I am not sure, whether it´s only Czech prayer, or some "regular"...
*going to google the Latin phrase again*

а мой примитивный, склонный к визуализации взгляд больше всего зацепили деревья по бокам...
я не знаю, с каким смыслом они там нарисованы (?), но выглядит красиво.
