"Ty brat? Ty okupant! To dělal Hitler!" zvedal k vojákům pěst.
My chceme, aby se lidé nemuseli bát."

Chilling, isn't it? And it wasn't a sporadic case. The armies had their propaganda and plainly weren't listening to what our people here tried to say. Sometimes, our people were shot - because of trying to speak with the soldiers.
And that exactly was the end of our previous love for Russia.
The rest was plain occupation.

Most terrible is, it repeats time and again... Now, it's happening to your country. After some more decades, whose turn will it be?
The bully should be stopped yet, I daresay.

the most chilling thing I've heard about that time, was, unfortunately, the comments of some of my relatives. Who lived most of their lives under USSR and have been affected by soviet propaganda to a huge measure.

"We freed them from fashists! And those traitors decided they did not want to support our geopolitic course anymore! They deserve what they have got"

That was the most terrible and stupid thing I have heard about it. Geopolitics. Traitors. "We freed them from fashists".

Now they are "freeing from fashists" our poor country. And likewise call us traitors, because we are not supporting the geopolitics of Russia anymore

About that freeing us from fashists... Well, it waz Nazi, 'cause the fascists were in Italy, and we weren't occupied by Italy. Secondly, hadn't there been the agreement about which country would be under whose influence, the Allies and USSR, we could be free a day earlier. (Much like Poland where people were actively fighting against both: the Germans and the Soviet army. We weren't fighting them, I mean Russians, 'cause back then we saw them rather like brothers, but... the "freeing" is a bit dubious, too. The American army had to stop near Pilsen. The Nazis were panicking pretty much (they feared to be caught by the Soviet army; they preferred captivity under any other force) and either running like hell, or making their closest space a hell (where they couldn't run away) - as if to take with them as many our people as possible (until the Red Army comes and they'll try shoot themselves in the heads in time). This could be one day less and maybe not so strong, if not for the agreement that the majority of our territory has to be freed by the USSR. (And we could be in completely other side of the Iron Curtain. Without the Slovaks, probably, but... the union with them didn't survive to this day after all, so what. :-)) )

Yes, the situations are very similar. '68 here and today in your country.

they say that those are the words of Albert Einstein "There are two infinite things - Universe and human stupidity. Though I'm not sure about the Universe"

the stupidity of politicians is an infinite thing. but the ordinary people pay for it, such an irony
